Endocrinology is a branch of medical science associated with hormones and endocrine glands. It is related with study of biochemical and physiological functions of hormones, endocrine gland, and the tissues that produce hormones. Human endocrine system comprised of various glands, in different parts of the body, which produce hormones in the blood.

The doctors who specialize in this field are known as endocrinologists. They are the specialists who treat issues associated with endocrine glands and hormones. Not all people visit these specialists in their lives.

These doctors are expert in diagnosing and treating hormonal issues in the body. Thyroid is classified into two types, which are known as hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. The former issue occurs when thyroid glands are unable to produce thyroid hormone.  On the other hand, when these glands produce excessive thyroid hormone, refers to as hyperthyroidism.

The symptoms of hypothyroidism include weight gain, change in blood pressure levels, tiredness, confused thinking, and depression. On the contrary, the symptoms of hyperthyroidism are weight loss, nervousness, vision disturbances, and restlessness.
